Once in alignment, the focus of preventative and wellness care changes to proper and pain free movement. In many cases this is achieved through FDM or Fascial Distortion Model.
Dr. Krueger has special training and certification in FDM, which adds a corrective soft tissue element to her treatment and improves the results she sees in many patients including active individuals, some neck and back pain, rodeo, and athletic injuries.
What is fascia? Fascia is a thin sheet of fibrous tissue that covers individual muscle fibers, tendons, ligaments, and muscle groups. When injured, fascia tears and your body naturally “patches” these tears during recovery. Similar to a patch in your jeans, the new fascia is unable to go back to its original state. With new, existing, and pre/post-surgical injures, there is a chance to manually realign the patched fascial fibers and reduce pain and scar tissue while improving motion and mobility.
If injures are left untreated they may happen repetitively. Scar tissue will form and restrict proper motion, flexibility, and movement patterns. These alterations not only affect an athlete’s ability to perform but can cause pain in multiple areas of the body due to resulting compensations.
Dr. Krueger is trained to detect and correct facial distortions with specific applied external pressure through FDM.
Examples of injures that have been helped in many cases with myofascial treatments, specifically FDM, include but are not limited to: sprains, strains, muscle tears, shin splints, “growing pains”, carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, whiplash, plantar fasciitis, pre/post-surgical scar tissue and pain, tendinitis, shoulder pain, knee pain, elbow pain, neck pain, back pain, decreased or painful range of motion.
